Nth’ 03
Hi everyone Im finally back.
Me being me, I havent really told anyone where Im currently working cause I wanted to wait till I was a little more settled down.
(cue Adele: Ive hearddd that youve settled down…
ok, digression.)
Anyway this is where Ive been doing some really interesting work:
https://www.facebook.com/Nth.magazine
PLEASE LIKE THE FB PAGE!
I picked up the magazine one day and decided to try out for the graphic designer post- and got it. I was like dying to get an answer after the interview, kinda losing hope and being sad, when I got it. HEE HEE.
Weve just launched the third issue- the distributors are listed on the fb page. We can be found just about anywhere though. heh.
The magazines really different from others in terms of style, models, well basically everything. Even the paper. lol.
And I guess thats what drew me to it. The teams mainly Japanese (yes I jusssssst had to say it), which adds a very different flavour to the book.
Pick it up and enjoy it!
However, we are currently stopping production after this issue to work on a bigger project ^^V I really cant wait for Nth’ to come back, because I only joined in mid-issue, so I need more!
And yes, Im kinda changing lines. Trying everything, more like.
AND YES IM FINALLY PLANNING FOR A SHOOT ZOMGZ two shoots in fact. Thought about it and I realised that yes, maybe Ive been picky and demanding when Im really in fact, a nobody. HA. OK I pray that my shoot would be awesome, or something, bye everyone, I need to buy yarn soon.
WABBIT

lol im so act jap today.
anw im so happy cause my DAMMY sweater from Harajuku Street Style arrived!!!
tbh i just didnt have time to go tangs for the longest time so i got this off the online shop at
http://shop.awcg.asia/
and its super well made, value for money, true that is.
finally got my hair done too! actually i went down to Kizuki+Lim at Raffles Hotel on Sunday to get it done by Chong. im so happy cause whoever knows me knows that my hair is SO straight practically nothing can be done to make it stand. i rmb ppl putting clay, wax, even glue and paint in my hair and it would just fall back down 5 mins later. LOL.
and its now so wavy i cant believe it \(^o^)/ damn happy.

im currently working with a magazine, and being pretty busy, so i dont really have time to work on new projects :< when the next issue of the magazine comes out im gonna pose with it and put the picture here LOL.
kind of miss knitting and making things. starting to think up new things to make next ^^
When I See An Elephant Fly
Did you ever see an elephant fly?
Well Ive seen a horsefly
Ive seen a dragonfly
Ive seen a housefly
Ive seen all that too!
Ive seen a peanut stand
And heard a rubber band
I saw a needle that winked its eye
But I think I will have seen everything
When I see an elephant fly
I say, when I see an elephant fly
I saw a front porch swing
And heard a diamond ring
I saw a polka-dot railroad tie
But I think I will have seen everything
When I see an elephant fly
I seen a clothes horse, he r’ar up and buck
And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck
I didn’t see that, I only heard
But just to be sociable I’ll take your word
I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat
And I just laughed till I thought I’d die
But I’d be done see’n about everything
when I see an elephant fly

PA(C)KRAT at Little Drom Store!
HI EVERYONE im so excited and happy now, because ive finally started stocking at the Little Drom Store!!!
view this link for their tumblr post on it:
http://thelittledromstore.tumblr.com/post/12154660939/packrat-by-kelly
im hoping to stock more things around in time to come, and this makes such a lovely start.
if youve bought my book and come here from it, thank you so much (omg i sound like im on star awards) and hope you like it! id be glad to receive comments on improvement too :B
also, im accepting preorders, collating to a good number then going out to print and cut again. everything is handmade so i have to make in batches for ~cost effectivity~ do email me if youd like to preorder! The only downside is i cant show you the book except maybe list out the items featured in the diffrnt volumes, but no worries i have a fair mix of things in each and i love each volume for the different things inside!
also, if youre wondering why some has more stickers or less, its due to the size and complexity of the sticker.
Some stickers are smaller than others because they look funny when they are too big. basically, i put everything to what i thought was the optimum size. heh :D
Im working now so probably wont have much projects coming up, but im gg to work hard for this so \o/
hha bye everyone (^w^)
The Official PA(C)KRAT Post
PA(C)KRAT consists of 5 different volumes, each containing about 13 – 16 scanned items, and a little folder at the back with about 4 – 6 stickers depending on the size and complexity!
Hand binded, stuck together, designed, etched and so on by myself.
The stickers are of a transparent background (as seen in the picture where i stuck it on transparency) so you can paste it on light coloured backgrounds :D as such…

yeah i just ‘zng’ed my macbook, removed all the old stickers yada yada. the little girl at the corner has been there since 3 yrs ago tho. The movie ticket and an extra small caramel candy wrapper is from PA(C)KRAT!
The nihon yen are not though. i just love them though hehe.
ALSO, im selling the stickers separately, as seen in the last 2 images!
Im gonna be stocking at Little Drom Store, SOON!!!
im so excited and i hope you are too hehe.
of course, i do accept preorders online, too :D
\o/
BYE ALLLLLLLLL going to poke around in my trash stash now.
Lattice Half-Hat; Dollfie
Hi everyone ive almost disappeared from the surface of the earth.
But anyway, i made a new hat!

Lattice is something like a netting and tts what i wanted my hat to look like- some sort of stiff netting.
Kind of a blessing in disguise that becca was late ytd so i went to daiso, randomly picked some white paper twine (yeah its PAPER twine! which explains why its so damn stiff, and gave me blisters while i made them ;_;) . The moral of the story is i should always bring my needle out so incase i need to wait, i can crochet anything… maybe even my hair ok no its too short.
And its a half hat cause i thought it might look boring if the brim goes all the way around. I actually like how it looks like a mistake, something someone has forgotten to finish. Mistakes are always beautiful because they cant be mass produced. i rmb once working for a toy fair and the collectors were SO anal over every small detail being perfect, and i was thinking how happy i would be if i got a defected one, itd probably sell for more in future too? hmmm.
oh, and theres a handle at the top, so the hat works like a lid. wouldnt do good if you have taller friends who have itchy fingers.

Does anyone here actually know what a ‘Dollfie’ is?
It was really popular a few years back, when it was ‘hyped’ but it sort of died down.
I first got interested in this doll when i was in sec 2 cause it isnt any barbie, its entirely customizable. the eyeballs, wigs, makeup, body, etc. are all customizable and im rly a sucker for diy things and that it will end up being ‘the only one in the world with your personal touch yada yada’.
There was only one shop in Singapore then that sold these dolls, and they were called Domuya (located at Riverside Point, super out of the way for a sec 2 kid if you ask me lol) but i religiously visited the shop to look at the dolls like weekly or smth. The big ones were too damn expensive (could cost up to $1k for the readymade ones), so i saved like mad and paid a total of $110 for a dollfie PLUS which means, its a barbie sized dollfie but is entirely customizable, too.
Anyway, i have quite a number of dolls, including a Mini Blythe, and Kelly Dolls (which i received as gifts, because of duh, the name lol), a Molly head, but no i dont have that Bratz or Myscene rubbish. My latest buy is the Blythe X Littlest Pet Shop set OMG (UWGEIOHWJDFKSFMN its SO WORTH IT, only $19.90 and my Blythes soooo pretty. Im gonna photograph them soon i guess.
Anyway i decided to recustomise the makeup on my Dollfies face because it has been there since sec 3 lol and i didnt change anything. My art kind of sucked in the past so it actually looks quite bad HAHAHA. i rmb my classmates were scared of me cause they thought i was a witch (??) for keeping a ‘weird doll’ ha ha secondary school -.-

Started out with the horrible makeup, removed everything put on some ‘blusher’, drew in lashes, brows, and finally added the lips and coated w white glue for shine. oh inserted eyeballs and put on her wig. it was 2h work, not bad right, in sec sch i took like a day lol. (to produce that shit) but anw ive had feedback tt the new one looks hideous, but im fine with it. even thinking of making her matching clothes w myself so i can do a photoshoot with her!!

Also, ive been working on ‘PA(C)KRAT’ to transform it into 5 small volumes instead of 1 thick one.
Each volume has 13 – 16 items and comes with 4 – 6 big transparent stickers, which, even if i must say so myself, is of good quality and something i would pay for… hahaha. heres a preview:

Once im done binding etc id do a proper shoot to show whats inside as well as this little folder im going to create in the back for the stickers. do look out for it!!!

The last project im working on always takes such a long time, i rly dont have time to complete it. slowly trudging through tho, and will post pictures when im done.

ZPAGHETTI, UTGP & so on
HELLO i just need to share this amazing website i found from reading FRANKIE Magazine which RTT brought back from her trip to Perth for Perth Fashion Week! The magazine simply feels natural and has tonnes of unique, laidback features, with simple yet beautiful shoots.
From what i hear Perth sounds awesome. Pardon my lack of general knowledge, but all i thought about Perth was that its filled with cows. Turns out im half right because the place is SO sparsely populated and its much more of a town than a city, so you hardly ever have to get stuck in the hustle and bustle. all in all it sounds so awesome and i think i should find out more and fly there first thing.
The most awesome thing is it seems trends are practically nonexistent there. thats great. like rly.
ok back to the topic, let me be a good blogger and provide a screenshot:
ok a lousy screenshot tt doesnt make much difference lol
This website is www.zpaghetti.com.au/ and their main selling item is their yarn.
What i love about this yarn is how random it is. They are actually remnants of fabric from other items such as clothing (usually fabrics such as jersey) that is made into ‘Spaghetti’ (for anyone who sews, youd know ‘spaghetti’ means a length of fabric sewn along the edge and then flipped inside out to produce a tubular length of clean finished ‘spaghetti’).
Being cut from a whole range of places, the designs, colours and other characteristics of the yarn are totally unpredictable and thats what makes it so special! Youd have to watch out on the site to wait for something you might like to come along.
Ive always bought things based on my feelings and it feels so great to ‘discover’ something that just connects with you.
Its like thrifting for clothes, digging through old fabric stock, or buying my two Freitag bags; its just based on the feeling you get when you discover them and it feels like… youre having a CHILD lol, its a special feeling you know?
anyways, the best thing about this yarn is how thick it is. their yarn range from 0.8cm to 1.2cm in width and needs a crochet needle of at least size 10.
Its always puzzling to me that Spotlight sells such huge needles but the thickest yarn is only 12ply or something. anything thicker costs a bomb and i really dont blame the fact that knitting is dying out despite being such a wonderful hobby, because of how terribly high maintenance it has become in Singapore.
These yarns cost from AUD15.95- AUD 19.95. which is deadly cheap considering how big the bale is.
in addition, the designs are so kewl i think knitting anything at all with my eyes closed would produce a good piece of work ;D
AND, since the yarn is so thick, i can probably finish a project in a day.
MOREOVER, someones finally doing something that aids in the huge fabric wastage when we cut out our patterns.
being such a packrat, i keep all my fabric remnants -_- idk what i could do with them but i have a box full of them lol.
______________
I actually joined UTGP this year; the theme was Coca Cola, and i decided to do something really simple.
i rushed out my design like super quickly though lol but still im gonna share it and here it is:

HAHA yes you cant really see much (and i know its not great :<). That was my design concept, a white on white print.
i cross-stitched the silhouette of a coke bottle on white fabric and scanned it in (yeah you see im a big fan of scanners) so you can see the creases in the fabric.
The concept was some sort of coke being so involved in our daily lives we dont even realise its there. coke has become part of us, just like a basic white tee being part of our closet, but not considered part of our outfits, well something along those lines, i shant put ppl to sleep since i didnt get through the first round and have no cause to share lol -_-

If you recognise this symbol then youve probably read the books.
Ive indulged the past few days reading this trilogy called The Hunger Games.
Im sure youve heard of it since its apparently hailed as ‘The Next Harry Potter’. WELL OBVIOUSLY it cannot beat harry potter in any way, especially in the thickness of the plot, character development, and most of all, writing style. The writing style is really simple and easy to understand (since it is after all, a childrens book), thus explaining how i finished it in a few hours.
Books like these about dystopic societies are apparently becoming very famous recently, and i got led to it from Brave New World which i was reading a while back. Hunger Games seems largely inspired by a japanese graphic novel known as Battle Royale, which ive heard a lot about but havent got the chance to read.
Another similar book which is ALWAYS unavailable in the Libraries is called The Uglies, which reflects a dystopic society as well, from what i heard. Handmaids Tale is also out in the libraries )-:
Anyway, The Hunger Games movie is premiering next year and i must say im SO disappointed in the cast. Im not surprised though because though the book is marketed as ‘The Next Harry Potter’, the movie is marketed as ‘The Next Twilight’ -_-. so yes, no surprises there.
The book is a really good, light piece of entertainment though so i do highly recommend it. I would gladly discuss the book with anyone willing to talk about it lol.
The brief summary of the book is the country in future (Panem) would be divided into 12 districts where district 12 reflects third-world conditions, and district 1 reflects our future. The hunger games is an annual event where each district ballots to send out 1 girl and 1 boy from age 12 – 18 to battle in a huge arena with conditions totally controlled by the Game Maker (including climate, water sources etc.). They are out to kill and the last person standing is hailed the victor. It is a huge event in Panem that is telecasted to the entire nation, and they have teams of stylists, and trainers, to package them to the crowd to gain popularity so sponsors can send ‘gifts’ to them during the Games.
Basically thats it, but obviously there are much more twists and turns to the plot, and personally i just hate the lovey-dovey emo parts which thankfully dont come frequently.

Ive been religiously digging up old mediacorp shows to watch because of how awesome they used to be. IMO, they totally went down the drain after they switched from TCS to mediacorp.
Of course, one of my main attractions to the shows are their stylists. The clothes from the past were so elaborate, well-matched, and bold. i guess the weather in the past didnt use to be so bad so they could layer and wear thick sweaters.
I really wish people still produced a full set of clothes using the same fabric. I saw so many cropped, drop shoulder tops with matching culottes, or vests and pants, blazers and shorts combis. I would die for any of those )-: they simply dont make clothes like they did anymore, or at least, singapore hasnt bothered bringing in ay of that. everyones just boring and black, drapes and ‘minimalism’- thats fashion my foot. take a look into your past and see what you have there. what happened to the tailored structure, colours, mismatched sets..?
I was so busy screenshot-ing the shows as i watched them and i would love to produce garments like that. well ive been around making a few but it stops there, will see if i have the time to shoot.

Currently struggling with my japanese class, cycling my nights away and working on some ideas i have to produce bags and accessories but are still midway.
I think im gonna find some place to stock my stuff but i jst have to start finding so i would love it if someone could share such information with me hee hee.

A packrat refers to either of the following:
a) A rodent that collects many small objects in its nest
b) A petty thief
c) a collector/ accumulator of miscellaneous objects
If I be a rat, then this book be my nest.
This is a visual collection of all the wrappers or other mementoes I have had and could not bear to get rid of-
and that, is a serious, incurable habit of a packrat.
I love to keep wrappers, tags, and miscellaneous objects, and they were taking up too much space,
so I decided to make a book out of them.
A total of 71 items were scanned.
Below are some example pages.

*binding was sewn

Currently gonna rush out of the house for an appointment, so cant do this up nicely.
In addition, my camera really, really, really sucks.
I first started collecting all these crap in 2008 and only decided to compile them now.
Will photograph properly and set up a page for it once i finish up the packaging;
i was thinking of selling them in separate volumes of maybe 10 items each with stickers :D good?
k gotta run BAI!
